About Us

For over 70 years, the fourth generation stud Kambula has been home to one of South Australia’s leading thoroughbred farms. Nestled between the coast and golden cropping region of the Yorke Peninsula, Kambula is home to over 1100 acres of land, accommodating both the 20 strong list of broodmares and a variety of crops.

In recent years, Kambula has presented a draft of 10-15 yearlings annually at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale. At the 2022 edition of the sale, Kambula sold three of the top 10 lots, including the top two lots - a filly by Dundeel out of Prettyhappyaboutit ($375,000 to Suman Hedge Bloodstock) and a filly by Capitalist out of Tagreeda ($325,000 to Clarken Racing). The filly from Prettyhappyaboutit smashed the Adelaide Yearling Sale record, becoming the highest priced filly ever sold at the sale. At the 2023 Magic Millions Adelaide Sale, the team again presented a stellar draft, highlighted by a Capitalist x Sudden Wealth colt, the third-top lot of the sale at $220,000 to the bid of John Foote Bloodstock.

In 2026, Kambula Stud will offer their full crop of of nine sale yearlings at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, highlighted by the Anamoe half-sister to Gallo Nero (ex Chianti). Group 2 placed and second in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Gallo Nero (Wootton Bassett) was awarded South Australian Champion 2YO in 2025.

Kambula consistently produces tough, winning racehorses from small crops of 15-20 foals annually, including stakes horses in recent years such as Gallo Nero, Kalmana, Streetcar Stranger, Swiftie Harriet and exciting up-and-coming horses like The Open, The Sprinkler, Streetcar Apollo, etc. In the 2021/22 racing season, Kambula was the leading breeder of winners in South Australia. The 2023/24 racing season saw 18 Kambula-bred horses win 32 races, including nine metropolitan wins. A further 11 winners were prepared and consigned on behalf of their owners.

Located only 90 minutes from Adelaide, Kambula opens it’s gates to any potential buyers to inspect this year’s progeny and looks forward to continuing the family tradition for many years to come. For the latest news and updates, follow us on social media below.
